Description: We will once again “bring in the May” as part of the annual All Hallows Guild Flower Mart – a popular two-day festival since 1939. Washington’s favorite spring outdoor family event features plants, herbs, food, puppet shows, carousel rides, boutiques and entertainment for the whole family. Washington Revels will present a one-hour American-themed show celebrating Spring with a colorful procession, traditional songs and dances, the crowning of a May Queen, children’s singing games, and a short play with Johnny Appleseed and other folk heroes. And of course, there will be lots of opportunities for audience participation, even in the May Pole dance!

Description: Soundgarden returns to Washington, D.C. to headline the 2013 DC101 Chili Cook-Off, set to be held on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds on Saturday, May 4. D.C.’s biggest one-day rock festival will also feature performances from Awolnation, Silversun Pickups, Capital Cities, Beware of Darkness and RDGLDGRN. Gates open at 12 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday Feb. 22, and will be available at the RFK Stadium Box Office weekdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., LiveNation.com, all Ticketmaster outlets and charge by phone (800) 745-3000. Tickets are $25 for Early Bird Special (limited time only), $46 for advance sales and $65 at the gate on the day of the event (plus applicable service fees). In support of the National Kidney Foundation’s programs in research, patient services, education and organ donation awareness, last year’s DC101 Chili Cook-Off drew 31,000 fans, and raised more than $1.3 million to fight kidney disease in the region. True to its name, the Chili Cook-Off also features an intense competition between 101 chili cooks in four categories: Red Chili, Green Chili, Freestyle and Salsa.
